Swordfish Facts For Kids

You might have noticed swordfish are famous for how they look. They have a long, flat bill that you guessed it – looks just like a sword!

They use this bill to attack other fish for food. They can look quite dangerous because of this, and are one of the largest fish you’ll see.

You will generally find swordfish in warm and temperate waters. They prefer areas of our planet that are not too cold all the time, so you may find them in places like the Indian Ocean.

Swordfish are not very sociable like other fish, and generally prefer to swim alone. They move quickly and are one of the fastest fish in the ocean.

They have a special organ in front of their eyes which helps them keep their eyes and brain warm as they travel in cold water.
